Question
Do I require an EMC filter?

Answer
Modern inverter switching devices and the speed at which they
operate have the potential to cause disturbance to sensitive
devices and installations used locally.
To comply with the European EMC Directive EN61800-3, IMO's
Declaration of Conformity (D of C) associated with Jaguar inverters
states the mandatory use of the correct EMC filter (along with
other recommendations) to reduce conducted interference emissions
to below stated levels.
Generally, if the power supply connected to the inverter is a
shared commercial type, ie a public utilities transformer supplying
low voltage power to many premises, an appropriate level of
filtering should be considered to avoid disturbance to a neighbours
power supply.
Some Jaguar drives have built-in filters that will give adequate
protection where short motor cables are used (<10mts).
Alternatively, a greater level of attenuation can generally be
obtained by using one of a range of Jaguar footprint type filters,
mounting under or adjacent to the inverter.
Please contact IMO for more details.
